Oh Gus… sir… tiny king of chaos and cuddles Seven whole months in foster care and somehow this legend is still available?! That's like leaving the last donut in the box… suspicious and frankly unacceptable.Meet Gus: professional snuggler by night, certified stuffie assassin by day (no plush toy has survived his reign). He's got zoomies that could power a small city and a heart that's all in for his people. Around other pups, he steps into his role as the best big brother ever-part mentor, part wrestling coach, part nap buddy. At meet-and-greets? Absolute gentleman. Polite. Charming. Probably wondering why no one has scooped him up yet. Same, Gus. Same. Now let's be real-this boy isn't looking for a "maybe." He wants a confident human who can lead the pack and a furry sidekick to share adventures, secrets, and snacks (especially snacks). He can be a bit protective, but it comes from that loyal, ride-or-die dachshund heart ❤️Gus isn't just a dog. He's a whole personality. A sidekick. A couch gremlin. A best friend in a low-riding, long-bodied package. So… who's ready to finally take home the goodest boy who's been waiting way too long? Are you that perfect owner for this amazing boy? Gus is 6 yrs old, he weighs 15 pounds, his adoption fee is $350 plus sales tax $15.75=$365.75
2/16/2026 Update: Gus was adopted and adored but he tried too hard to be the pack leader protecting his new home. Gus needs more time working on his issues so we will keep him with his foster mom for a bit and look for some guidance from a dog trainer.7/20/2025 Gus came to Dakota Dachshund Rescue as a breeder release boy.He is just beginning his journey to become a house pet.Gus could use some angels to sponsor him.
Gus was diagnosed as Heartworm positive July 27th.He is on doxycycline and oral heartworm preventive monthly now.also on a flea/tick product that kills mosquitoes as well. First treatment injection will be Sept 23. Gus will be in the rescue for multiple months while he goes through his treatment. Can you sponsor Gus?He would love you for it.
My adoption fee helps cover all of my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, neuter, and microchipping.
