What kind of home would be best for me? This is the sweetest old man. We are looking for a home that has a heart for seniors. Chatham is so easy to take care of. He's low maintenance, wanting his bed, a pat and a "good boy" at least once a day and his food. He is EASY.
What is my personality like? So humble. So eager to simply be a small part of your life. So unassuming and so easy to care for. I wish I had known him when he was younger. I am betting he was amazing. He still is, but in a very low key kind of way.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Simple affection without being overwhelming. He is confident and all it takes is a soft treat and he's your BFF for life.
Other tips and tidbits: Chatham's birthday is 01/31/09 - yes. He is that old. And going strong. Chatham has a bit of a sensitive system. He is tolerating our science diet well. He has a tendency to pick up parasites. His system is susceptible to them, so no dog parks please.
He is a very senior dog but he still has life left in him and would love for it to be one being spoiled. He's a little hard of hearing. He does not see very well but don't tease him with a stick of pupperoni. His smeller works just fine.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
