Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Fence needed? No. Lilac enthusiastically jumps 4-foot fences. She cannot be left alone in a fenced yard or area. Multiple daily leash walks are key for this girl! SHE MOSTLY JUMPS FENCES TO GET TO YOU - NOT TO RUN OFF. However, we cannot guarantee she will not run off.
What kind of home would be best for me? Lilac is searching for a family who values together time as much as she does. She forms deep bonds with her people and would be happiest in a home where someone is around for most of the day. Being close to her humans gives her comfort and confidence, and she truly thrives when she's included in everyday life and routines.
For this reason, Lilac will do best with a family who is home more often than not, or one that is willing to continue working with her on building confidence when alone. With patience, consistency, and possibly a more open confinement setup or gradual alone-time training, she has every chance to feel secure and continue improving.
What is my personality like? Lilac has a sweet, gentle nature, and we believe she would do very well in a home with kids. She enjoys attention and affection and would love being part of a busy, loving family. While she is wonderful with other dogs, people are clearly her favorite. Because of this, Lilac would be perfectly content as an only dog, but she would also do just fine sharing her home with another canine companion.
Because Lilac bonds so deeply with her people, she has shown signs of separation anxiety when left alone. In the past, she has managed to break out of a crate - not out of mischief, but because being separated from her humans is stressful for her. It's important to note that once out of the crate, Lilac has never gotten into anything or destroyed any belongings. Her goal is comfort and closeness, not chaos.
Lilac is young, loving, and eager to learn. She is very trainable and responds especially well to praise, encouragement, and affection. With patience and consistency, she will quickly begin to understand routines, expectations, and basic training. As with any dog adjusting to a new home, Lilac will need time to settle in and learn your household rhythms. With gentle guidance and a family committed to helping her succeed, she will grow into a devoted, affectionate companion who simply wants to be by your side.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Lilac loves people. Seriously loves people.
Other tips and tidbits: We were told that Lilac is under 1 year old. We have no pre-rescue paperwork confirming a date of birth. We celebrate her birthday 3/27/25.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
