What kind of home would be best for me? Birdie is searching for a family who has the time and patience to help her learn what it truly means to be a pet. Much of the world is still new to her, and she will need a gentle, understanding home that allows her to move at her own pace as she builds confidence and trust. We believe she would do best in a quiet, child-free home. Sudden movements or unexpected touching can be frightening for her, and she prefers to know what's coming next so she can feel safe and comfortable.
Birdie absolutely adores other dogs and relies on them for comfort and guidance, so a home with another dog is a must for her. While she enjoys the company of all dogs, she has a special fondness for male dogs and would be especially happy with a big or little "brother" to follow around. Having a canine companion helps her feel safe and secure, both inside the home and out.
What is my personality like? Time is the greatest gift you can give Birdie. Until she fully trusts, she can be timid and nervous, but with patience and consistency, her sweet nature begins to shine through. She is clean in her crate and, while we can't say for certain that she is fully house trained, she has not had any accidents in our care. Birdie loves cozy spaces - plush, bouncy dog beds are her favorite and she is happiest indoors, cuddled up alongside her doggy friends.
Birdie is still learning the ins and outs of pet life and will need continued patience and gentle guidance as she settles into a home environment. With a calm home, a trusted canine companion, and adopters willing to let her bloom in her own time, Birdie has the potential to become a deeply loving and loyal companion.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Birdie is timid and nervous when meeting new people. Slow and steady wins the race.
Other tips and tidbits: Birdie's birthday is 03/26/2023.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
