Reason for being in rescue: Owner release.
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Charlie is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Charlie is a labradoodle. He is not hypoallergenic and will shed.
Weight: 66.5 lbs
Height: 24 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Adoption Fee: $699
Fence needed? Yes, Charlie requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. Charlie has always lived in a home with a securely fenced yard and will require a standard fence for safe exercise, playtime, and outdoor exploration. A fenced space allows him to move freely and confidently while staying safe.
What kind of home would be best for me? Charlie does very well with other dogs and enjoys their companionship, though he could also succeed as an only dog in the right home. Since he has never truly lived life as a household pet, he will need patience, time, and understanding as he learns what it means to be part of a family. Everything from routines to expectations will be new to him, and he will thrive with gentle guidance and consistency.
While Charlie is not afraid of the car, he is unfamiliar with it and will need gradual, positive exposure to become comfortable with car rides and travel. With calm encouragement and practice, this is something he should be able to adjust to over time. Charlie has been cat tested. He thinks they are fun friends and a little scary. If you have a cat, it will be a (friendly) adjustment.
What is my personality like? At almost 2-years-old Charlie the labradoodle with a gentle heart is easygoing with a submissive nature. He is comfortable wearing a leash and does not panic or flail, though he may pull when excited and will benefit from formal leash and obedience training. Charlie is clean in his crate, goes in willingly for treats, and has never attempted to escape, showing that he is comfortable with structure and routine.
With the right environment, patience, and a family willing to help him learn, Charlie has the potential to grow into a loving, loyal companion who will thrive as a cherished member of the family.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Charlie is a very friendly boy who enjoys meeting people, especially when he feels comfortable in his surroundings. In new or unfamiliar environments, Charlie can be a bit reserved at first, but with a little time and reassurance, his sweet personality quickly shines through.
Other tips and tidbits: Charlie's birthday is 10/11/2024.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
