Meet Maggie, a sweet Great Pyrenees found as a stray in Florida, who's now ready to find her forever family! Maggie is leash trained and does well on walks, and she's also crate trained, which will help make the transition into a new home nice and smooth. She is perfect with other dogs of all sizes, and she genuinely loves to play and be around her canine friends. Maggie also loves meeting new people and going places, greeting the world with confidence and enthusiasm. She has been around chickens before, though she doesn't seem particularly interested in them. Maggie doesn't dig holes in the yard, and she's a less-than-average barker for a Pyr, so she keeps things pretty peaceful. She doesn't have a strong preference between being inside or outside and is happy with either. When it comes to snacks, Maggie loves Bacon-Bacon treats, though she's not too picky and would probably enjoy just about any treat that comes her way! Maggie is super easygoing, not a jumper, loves playing with others, and she gets along with everyone she meets. Maggie would do wonderfully in a home with children and other dogs, though she'd also be perfectly content as an only pet as long as she gets plenty of playdates. A home with a five-foot fenced yard would be her preference, but she could also be happy as a leash-walk-only dog. Above all, Maggie is a loving pup who craves human attention, and she'd thrive with a semi-active family - whether that includes children, other dogs, or a fenced-in yard where she can run and play to her heart's content.

NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn't end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog.
Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant's ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
