Meet Serenity, a gentle soul who will steal your heart with one peaceful gaze! Serenity was a Tennessee stray, limping and wandering with two pups that she was nursing. She was in tough shape, extremely matted and had an older break in her leg - her kneecap was completely shattered so the leg started to bow out and the muscles around that leg atrophied. Unfortunately she was not able to keep her leg. This three-legged beauty is a living testament to resilience and love, with a spirit as soft as her long, silky coat. A true cuddle bug who loves nothing more than a cozy bed and your undivided attention, Serenity is looking for her forever family who appreciates mostly quiet moments, with the occasional spontaneous zoomie session! This special girl is a master of charm, winning over every human she meets. This includes kids of all ages, but she would be happiest if small children were only visitors, so she could be your everything and not have to share. Dog friends are fine (she could take or leave them), preferring smaller, low energy males (but she'd be totally cool with being an only dog). She's housebroken, crate trained, and walks well on leash. She also knows her name and basic commands, though she might tune into her "selective hearing" mode! Your odds of cooperation will improve if you have some of her favorite treats on-hand, like Kraft cheese slices, peanut butter and hot dogs! She is incredibly well-behaved and enjoys lounging out on a soft blanket and a couple of pillows in whatever room you're hanging out in. Sunbathing outside is also enjoyable, so long as her people are doing the same with her. She will happily accept nose kisses, short walks, car rides, ear massages, bones to chew, and brushing sessions as her top love languages. Serenity is looking for a calm environment with a 3' fence or leash-walk only family. She prefers to dine alone and will happily enjoy her food in her crate, and then rejoin the family for some lovings. This sweet girl has a full-sized spirit and is ready to fill your home with love! Fees: Adoption fees are determined on a sliding scale depending on age, location and transport. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee. Fees for dogs adopted locally start at $400 and can range up to $700 for puppies under six months. Puppies placed on spay/neuter contracts receive $100 back when the dog is spayed or neutered. Fees for senior dogs (7 or older) and foster dogs will be adjusted accordingly.

NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn't end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog.
Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant's ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
