Wally #2 | 1.5-year-old Shepherd mix | Shy sweetheart with a playful side
Wally is a 1.5-year-old, 35-pound Shepherd mix with classic black and brown coloring and a gentle, sensitive soul. After spending five months in the shelter, he's still adjusting to home life and can be timid at first. He may seem nervous initially, but once he feels safe, he becomes a loyal little shadow and loves affection from both men and women.
He is house trained and stands by the door when he needs to go out, though as with any dog, accidents can happen while adjusting to a new environment. Wally walks beautifully on leash, enjoys long strolls and even light jogs, and seems most comfortable outside right now. His energy level ranges from medium to high - he loves activity but can settle nicely once he's had sufficient exercise. He currently enjoys about an hour-long walk in the morning and another in the evening.
At home, he sleeps soundly in a dog bed next to his foster and relaxes nearby during the workday. He is not kennel trained and hasn't been left alone much yet; structure and gradual alone-time training will be important as he builds confidence.
Wally has had polite but somewhat timid interactions with other dogs and would do best in a home with a playful, confident dog to help him come out of his shell. He has not yet met cats or children. He knows "come" and "no," enjoys toys (especially ones he can de-stuff), bully sticks, brushing, walks, and belly rubs - and he has a habit of hiding his favorite treasures.
Wally's ideal home is a quieter, patient one with a yard where he can feel secure and explore at his own pace. With time, consistency, and a playful canine companion, this sweet boy has all the makings of a devoted and loving best friend.
If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.
The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following:
Spay/neuter
Microchip
DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption.
