Sweetie Pie | 5-Year-Old Foxhound | Happy Prancer with a Big Heart

Sweetie Pie is a 65-pound brown-and-white Foxhound who lives up to his name in every way. He's reliably house trained, typically stands by the door when he needs to go out, and has had little to no accidents in his foster home. On leash, he does fairly well-he may pull a bit at times, but overall enjoys his walks and is eager to get out and explore. When left home alone for a few hours, he's been a perfect angel, especially when crated with another dog nearby (and a little YouTube dog TV for company).

This friendly guy does great with other dogs of all sizes and enjoys canine companionship. He hasn't been tested with cats or children yet, but he's generally easygoing and affectionate with everyone he meets, showing no preference for men or women. Sweetie Pie is kennel trained, goes into his crate easily (especially with a treat), and sleeps through the night. He's also a low shedder and a polite eater who tends to graze rather than gulp his meals.

Sweetie Pie has a higher energy level and thrives with regular activity-long walks, hikes, runs, car rides, and even swimming are all high on his list of favorite things. Because of his energy level and typical hound curiosity, Sweetie Pie is not suited for apartment living and will require a home with a securely fenced yard (6-foot fence) where he can safely stretch his legs and enjoy the outdoors. He knows several commands, including stay, wait, and leave it, responds well to structure and boundaries, and is both playful and sweet. He's known for prancing around happily and flopping over for belly rubs whenever the opportunity arises.

Sweetie Pie would do best in an active home, ideally with other dogs and possibly kids, where he can get plenty of exercise, companionship, and affection. He came to us as a surrender from North Carolina and is ready to bring his joyful, loving energy to a forever family.



If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.

The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following:

Spay/neuter

Microchip

DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.

Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption.
