Meet Boone, the rootinest, tootinest, sweetest pup the frontier has ever seen! Boonie Boy might not have all the confidence of his namesake just yet, but he is making great strides as he learns to navigate the world around him.Boone came to us as a puppy from a shelter in Ohio, where he missed out on socialization and is now making up for lost time. An introverted and curious pup, Boone needs time to be comfortable with new people, but has an inquisitive side that helps him overcome his timidness. He is a very playful guy whose personality blossoms around other dogs, and he will adjust best in a house with a canine companion. He has not been around cats or kids, so those variables are unknown at this time. He is not spooked by loud noises, but he does not appreciate sudden movements or uninvited touch, so we expect him to do well with kids over the age of 8 who respect his space and understand his need for time to warm up.He is fully potty trained, knows basic commands, and is working on continuing training. A remarkably sweet boy, he enjoys laying next to people on the couch and loves getting invited onto the bed for morning snuggles. At night, he sleeps quietly on a dog bed next to his people.Boone is an incredibly loving dog that has been through a lot of transitions in his young life, which have caused him to develop symptoms of separation anxiety. His foster family has been working with him to feel secure when left alone, and he is making amazing progress toward overcoming his anxiety. With the help of some puppy Prozac, he can now be left unkenneled without causing destruction. Boone's adoptive family should be prepared to help him cope with a new environment that may bring about anxiety, which means only leaving for short amounts of time while building his confidence in his new home. His current foster and MARS will provide resources to help ease the transition period for his new family.Boone will do best with a family that can be patient as he comes out of his shell and helps him build confidence. He will have some set backs from another transition that will need to be worked through.
