BIO UPDATE (4/22/2024): Beautiful Miss Stella is a super sweetheart! Looks and personality, this little one has it all. She gets along great with her doxie foster sisters and even allows them to share a doggie bed with her. Her potty and leash training are works in progress. She is making progress, but isn't there yet. She, like many former breeder dogs, didn't have the opportunity to learn these essentials as a puppy, so it takes a bit longer to train her. Our little Stella is just looking for a home where she will be loved and given the patience, understanding, and structure needed to learn. Stella would love to be your best friend and companion. BIO: Stella is retired from breeding and looking for her loving forever home. Because she was a breeding dog, she was not well socialized and will need patience when meeting new people. Once she warms up to you, she's a sweetheart! While she may be 6 years old, she has a lot of spunk and would do best with another small dog, preferably a younger adult, to learn to play with. The one thing that you must understand is that she doesn't know what it's like to be a pet, so you will need patience when adopting her.
Our must-haves for beautiful Stella include:

Another younger, small, well-socialized dog for her to play with and learn from

AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.

We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
