BIO: Hugo is seeking an adopter who works from home or is a stay-at-home person and an active walker/jogger.
He came from North Carolina and has been in 3 homes in his 9 months of life... why?! No one has taken the time to socialize him and work with him on manners. He's still a puppy, for goodness' sake, but he's smart and will learn quickly.
Hugo needs someone who won't give up on him, as the other 3 homes have. Are you that family? All he wants is love and a home! This boy needs stability, so we need to know you will be with him for the rest of his days.
Our must-haves for adorable Hugo include:
A fenced yard
Someone who has the patience to work with him and is not looking for a perfect rescue
Another small young dog for him to play with, because he loves to play
Someone who works from home would be great
No apartments, high-rises, or condos
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund's back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
