Meet Minnie!
Minnie is a 3-year-old terrier mix with a gentle heart and a playful, silly side just waiting to shine. She originally came from a Queens shelter as a stray and was quickly scooped up by a well-meaning family. Unfortunately, despite everyone's best efforts, Minnie and the resident dog in the home haven't been able to comfortably coexist off-leash indoors, so she's now looking for a better match.
From what we've seen, Minnie is actually quite dog-friendly. Outside on leash, she showed interest in meeting and playing with the resident dog. However, differences in energy levels and communication styles made things challenging inside the home. With the right introduction and a compatible canine companion-or as your one-and-only-Minnie has so much potential to thrive.
When meeting new people, Minnie can be a little shy at first, but her curiosity always wins out. Once she feels safe, her true personality comes through: affectionate, sweet, and full of charm. She quickly warms up and becomes a total cuddle bug who loves attention and companionship.
Minnie is crate trained and mostly housetrained. She rides well in the car, handles well, and already knows "sit." She enjoys playing with toys and may get a little mouthy during play, but she would do wonderfully with continued positive reinforcement training to help polish her skills.
She has shown no interest in chasing cats while out on walks and has done well with children-her current family shares that she's been great with their 6-year-old grandson.
Minnie is the kind of dog who just needs a little time to settle in and feel secure. In return, she'll give you endless love, laughs, and companionship. Whether in a home with another well-matched dog or as your solo sidekick, Minnie is ready to find her forever family.
Could you be the one to give Minnie the fresh start she deserves?
Minnie will be brought up to date on vaccines and tested for heartworm. Minnie has been spayed/neutered and has a microchip. Her adoption donation is $450.
Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home.
