The mission of The Kitty Squad is simple: to save lives, support our community, and make a difference for cats who need a second chance.
About Us
The vision of The Kitty Squad is that one day, every cat - no matter their age, breed, or imperfection - will have a forever home where they are loved and safe. We are committed to helping alleviate unnecessary euthanasia of healthy or treatable companion animals due to overcrowding in shelters and reducing overpopulation through spay/neuter education and assistance. With community initiatives like our pet pantry, Pickles' Pet Project, we're working to help families stay together and reduce the number of animals entering shelters in the first place.
The Kitty Squad is a licensed, section 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue. We are a 100% volunteer run, foster-based organization serving the greater Chicagoland area made up of long time volunteers, fosters, and nonprofit professionals who care deeply about the animals and the people who love them.
The Kitty Squad is committed to achieving our goals by developing partnerships with like-minded businesses and organizations and by providing an extensive range of opportunities for volunteer involvement. Every one of us has come to this work from a place of compassion and we're grateful to be combining our skills to build something new together.

Adoption Process

The adoption fee for kittens (under 1 year) is $175 and covers virtually everything they will need preventively for the first year+ including 2-4 FVRCPs depending on age & situation, rabies vaccine, FIV/FeLV test, microchip with lifetime registration, and spay or neuter. Adult cats get the same thing except 1-2 FVRCPs depending on the situation and are $100 - unless they are seniors (over 10 years old) in which case we also do a senior blood panel and the fee is $75. We discount a second adoption fee by 50% regardless of age. If mom and baby are adopted, mom is half off.

Because we are a foster-based organization and everyone lives in someone's home, the first step to meeting our cats and kittens is to fill out our online application.

Special Programs: Fabulous Fosters: Our fabulous Fosters Program gives rescued cats and kittens a safe, loving place to stay while they wait for their forever homes. From playful kittens to senior cats in need of comfort and care, foster homes are an essential part of saving more lives.
Pickles' Pet Project: Through Pickles’ Pet Project, The Kitty Squad provides support to community members who need temporary assistance caring for their pets. By helping families access pet food, litter, and other essential supplies, we can relieve some of the pressure during difficult times and prevent unnecessary shelter surrenders before they happen. Because keeping pets with the people who love them is always the best outcome.
Kitty Squad Legends: Not every cat is suited for a traditional adoption, but every cat deserves a loving home. Our Kitty Squad Legends program is designed to provide a compassionate, stable, and lifelong home for cats who may not be ideal candidates for traditional adoption but still deserve love, comfort, and security.
