We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
</p> <p> Currently Living at: DC area foster home</p> <p> </p> <p>DUKE is Looking For: True to his royal name, Duke carries himself with a mix of charm, curiosity, and the occasional dramatic flair. He may enjoy following his nose on "royal patrol," offering his signature hound commentary, or lounging like a monarch awaiting loyal subjects with treats. Friendly, gentle, and eager to please, Duke appreciates the simple luxuries of life: belly rubs, tasty snacks, and a soft throne (or couch) for his naps. He's looking for a home where he can feel safe, loved, and included in daily life - a place where he can settle in and perhaps, in time, become the unofficial ruler of hearts.

With patience, kindness, and a touch of humor, Duke could grow into a loyal companion worthy of his title… crown not included, but highly encouraged.</p> <p>What My Foster Says About Me: Duke is the definition of a gentle giant. He's very mild-mannered and wants nothing more than to be a friend to everyone, humans and other dogs alike. He is adept at matching other dogs' cues and styles and is pretty deferential in general: he did well taking cues from my grumpy resident senior dog who wanted to be ignored, and very politely played with and matched the play style of my other foster dog, even though she's less than half his size. He's a very curious guy and loves going on long sniffy walks, so if you're looking for a hiking buddy or companion for adventures around town, Duke would love nothing more than to do that. At home he's medium energy-- he's content to play with toys on his own and enjoys snuggling on the couch, but is also curious to explore and engage with the family. Duke is food motivated (and takes treats oh-so-gently) and is very eager to please; I'm sure he'd thrive in structured training! </p> <p> Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. </p> <p> TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
