Hi there! My name is Flower.I am a 2 year old brindle Boxer girl weighing about 50 pounds, which makes me a little smaller than many Boxers. I have white paws, a white tip on my tail, and beautiful brown eyes with a white streak running between them down to my nose. People tell me I have a sweet face, and I hope my personality is just as sweet! My journey to Austin Boxer Rescue started a little differently than most. I came into the rescue with a dislocated elbow and torn ligaments. Because the injury had gone untreated for some time, I needed surgery to put my elbow back into place and to repair the damaged ligaments. After surgery, I spent four weeks in a splint that went all the way from my shoulder to my toes. It wasn't much fun, but thanks to my doctors and foster family, my leg was saved!I still have bit of a limp, and sometimes I hop around on three legs when I am tired, but don't let that fool you, I can still run, play, and enjoy life just like any Boxer. I'm continuing to build strength in my shoulder and improve my range of motion, and every day I get a little bit stronger. My foster family says I am one of the sweetest dogs they have ever met. I'm incredibly loving and affectionate, and my favorite place in the world is curled up next to my humans. For a young Boxer, I am actually pretty low-key. I don't jump on people, and I haven't found much that is worth barking about yet. I'm happiest when I am with my people, whether we are relaxing on the couch or enjoying a quiet evening together. When it comes to playtime, tennis balls are my absolute favorite! I love chasing them, carrying them around, and encouraging my humans to chase me while I proudly show off my prize. I also enjoy stuffed toys, especially for cuddling, and I do occasionally like a gentle game of tug-of-war. I tend to play in short bursts and then settle down for a nice nap. At bedtime, I prefer my cozy dog bed right next to my humans' bed. I like knowing my family is close by. During the day, you'll often find me stretched out in a sunny spot because, like most Boxers, I take sunbathing very seriously.I am house-trained, crate-trained, and know how to use a doggy door. If the doggy door is closed, I'll politely stand by the back door and give a little whimper to let you know that I need to go outside. My foster family never uses the crate because I am trustworthy when left alone.I enjoy going for walks and walk nicely on a leash. While I am still building endurance and can't take long walks yet, I love getting outside to explore. I don't react to other dogs, deer, or other distractions we encounter on our walks. I'm also a picky eater - not every treat, kibble, or canned food passes my quality-control inspection! One thing everyone notices about me is how much I love people. I truly haven't met a stranger. Whether you are family, a friend, or someone I've just met, chances are I will think you are wonderful. I haven't lived with children, dogs, or cats in my foster home, so we don't know yet how I would do with them.Like most Boxers, I love companionship and being part of the family. I'm looking for a home where I can be included in daily life, spoiled with belly rubs and snuggles, and loved for exactly who I am. In return, I promise to fill your days with loyalty, laugher, gentle companionship, and plenty of Boxer kisses. If you are looking for a resilient, loving girl with a gentle heart, soulful brown eyes, and a wagging white-tipped tail, I just might be the perfect addition to your family.
