About Watauga Humane Society
Our Mission - Providing Second Chances Since 1969 Watauga Humane Society is dedicated to improving the lives of animals and people through compassionate care, community engagement, and lifesaving programs that promote responsible pet ownership. Who We Are Founded in 1969, Watauga Humane Society has served the High Country for more than 50 years. As a private, nonprofit organization, we partner with Watauga County Animal Control to provide sheltering and care for animals in need, operating a 14-acre campus that includes the Irma Baker Lyons Adoption Center. Watauga Humane Society exists to save lives and build a more humane community by providing no-kill sheltering, advancing preventative care, and supporting pet owners with resources that keep animals out of crisis and in homes. Our No-Kill Philosophy Watauga Humane Society is proud to be a no-kill shelter, meaning we are committed to saving every healthy and treatable animal. We believe every pet deserves a second chance and work tirelessly to ensure animals receive the care, enrichment, and support they need to find loving homes.
