About Animal Care League

Animal Care League is committed to providing shelter, medical care, and comfort to animals in need; reducing animal overpopulation; and acting as a community resource, thus promoting the human/animal bond. We envision a world where every animal knows love and safety, and where every person is empowered to be an advocate for the animals in their communities. Located in Oak Park, IL, Animal Care League is a no-kill animal shelter that holds stray animals for 8 villages. In addition to strays, we accept owner surrenders and transfers from other organizations whenever space allows. We are a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has been serving our community since 1973, and the majority of our funding comes from donor support.
