About Pet Helpers
For nearly 50 years, Pet Helpers has been a cornerstone of animal welfare in the Lowcountry, serving as a trusted, community-driven nonprofit dedicated to helping pets and the people who love them. Founded in 1978, the organization has grown from a grassroots effort into one of South Carolina’s leading no-kill adoption centers, providing lifesaving services such as adoption, foster care, affordable spay/neuter programs, and humane education. Today, Pet Helpers continues to be a vital resource for the Charleston community, having saved tens of thousands of animals while working toward a future where every adoptable pet has a safe place to call home.
