About The Humane Society of PR

The Humane Society of Puerto Rico is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of companion animals through prevention, education, and community engagement. We operate a low-cost veterinary clinic that provides essential preventive care, making veterinary services more accessible to families and helping reduce the incidence of illness and suffering among animals. In addition to veterinary care, we work closely with communities to promote animal retention and prevent abandonment. Through outreach, education, and support services, we empower pet guardians to overcome challenges and keep their animals in loving homes. As part of our commitment to responsible and sustainable animal welfare, we maintain a closed-admission shelter model. This allows us to focus on the animals already in our care while ensuring every intake is done with the capacity to provide appropriate medical and behavioral support, increasing the chances of successful rehoming.
