About Paws Place Inc

Founded in 1999, Paws Place Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Winnabow, North Carolina, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs in need. Operating from a 17-acre property with a climate-controlled facility featuring 26 indoor/outdoor kennels and over 3 acres of walkable space, Paws Place prioritizes dogs at risk of euthanasia in overcrowded county shelters — including heartworm-positive dogs and complex medical cases that other rescues are unable to take on. Every dog is fully vetted prior to adoption, receiving vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, heartworm prevention, and treatment for any existing medical conditions. Paws Place is powered entirely by community generosity: a 100% volunteer Board of Directors oversees all organizational operations, and the organization depends fully on monetary donations and in-kind contributions to fulfill its mission. Since our founding, we have not only transformed the lives of the dogs in our care — we have transformed the lives of the families who open their homes to them.
