About Associated Humane Societies South

Originally founded in 1891, our shelter has served as a safe haven for thousands of stray, unwanted, abused, abandoned, and sick animals throughout South Jersey. Today, as Associated Humane Societies South, we continue that mission as part of New Jersey’s largest animal sheltering system. Associated Humane Societies (AHS) rescues stray and homeless animals—both domestic pets and wildlife—providing compassionate care and sanctuary until they can find loving homes. As a community-based organization, we also offer low-cost veterinary services and humane education programs to promote responsible pet guardianship across the state.
